Vratza, Bulgaria

What an awesome experience! This is my fourth ShareHim trip, the first four being to Tanzania, East Africa.

Usually everyone in the group stays in the same hotel, only going out to the sites in the evening. This trip I was separated from my friends. I saw them at orientation and didn’t see them again until we gathered for the flight home. Because of this, I spent more time with the members at the site, getting to know them, and enjoying their love and hospitality. I now have a new family in Bulgaria!

Even though language was a barrier, with the help of translators and those in the church that spoke a little English, we managed just fine. The people accepted me with wide-open arms, bringing me flowers or small gifts every night, inviting me over for meals, and meeting me during the day to show me their wonderful town.

The Lord richly blessed our meetings. We had an average of 18-25 visitors attending the meetings and the pastor says we will probably have 15 or more baptisms. Praise the Lord!

One precious older member invited my translator and me over for lunch and served us stuffed cabbage. It was excellent, except that it was full of walnuts and I am allergic to walnuts. It was obvious that she had gone out of her way for us and I did not want to offend her. So I claimed the promise in Mark 16:18 about drinking any deadly thing and it shall not hurt them, and I ate what was put in front of me. The Lord is so good--I had no adverse reaction.

At one point in the meetings, my projector started acting up. It would just quit and then when I turned it back on, the light wouldn’t come on. So I told those close by that we needed to pray for the projector. We prayed and I asked the Lord to put an angel in the projector so that His word could go forward. The projector worked perfectly after that.

Each person who attended the meetings became so precious to me. What a privilege to share God’s word with them and watch the light of understanding and conviction come alive in their eyes. There is no greater joy than to watch the Holy Spirit work in people’s lives and see them give their lives to Jesus, making Him not only their Savior, but also their Master.

Thank you ShareHim for the opportunity to experience God working through me to reach others for Him.
