Rural Churches Embrace Lay-Led Evangelism in Melfort, Saskatchewan
September 18 2007 / ShareHim in Nipawin #204by Jill Weeks
Personal Testimony of Patricia Kowtek.
In recent months, evangelism teams in the Manitoba-Saskatchewan conference have been actively planning and conducting several lay-lead evangelistic events. In March 2007, two campaigns were held near Melfort, Saskatchewan. The first, held at Oasis Center in Nipawin, was preached by Patricia Kowtek and Alice Racher. The second series of meetings was preached in Naicam by Ron Hetland and David Schaffrick.
In both reaping events, the churches worked hard to make the campaigns run smoothly. In order to prepare for the meetings, they sent out flyers and invitations to the community inviting people to attend. The churches were also quite supportive in attendance of the nightly meetings—no small task considering the great distance many members in rural Saskatchewan must travel to attend. As a result of the campaigns, a former member of the Seventh-day Adventist church chose to be re-baptized and follow the Lord. Praise God for what He is doing in the plains of Saskatchewan!
