Personal Testimony of Giovanni Dalotto.

Hello, my name is Giovanni Dalotto. I am 21 years of age. My campaign site is in La Vega, in a little village called El Cerro. Everyday I take an hour and a half trip from the hotel Aquarius in Bonao on a "guagua" (cargo van) to my campaign site, being the last one to get dropped off with 7 stops along the way. I take advantage of this time to really get to know the other people in the van also preaching in La Vega. Over the course of these road trips, we have shared many valuable stories and I feel we have built strong relationships. There is one story that is very powerful, and I want to share it with all of you readers.

A girl by the name of Caitlin shared it with me. Her campaign site is in Villa Rosa, La Vega. She speaks in English and her translator, Juliana, who also rides in the guagua, speaks in Spanish. The other night, we were picking them up from their site, and when we saw them, their faces were glowing! They were filled with the Holy Spirit. They came into the van and instantly, with intensity, starting telling us the story of one of their visitors who had been attending the conferences. They both were very excited and telling us what had happened. The story goes that there was this guy by the name of Carlos who had attended a couple of their meetings. Carlos used to be a big time drug dealer all around the country, and he was going to spend 19 years in prison for it. The girls continued saying that he heard one of their sermons about God's grace and how God gives us the opportunity to have new life in His son, Jesus Christ, our Savior.

He broke down and accepted Jesus into his life that very night and was transformed by the message, and he heard this the night before his sentencing. So, the next day he went to court, as planned, for his sentencing. He stepped into the courtroom with a new heart and a new mentality, ready to spend the next 19 years in prison physically; however, spiritually, he felt alive, refreshed, and free!

He felt the comfort of God in his life. Little did he know that God had different plans for his life! What happened in that courtroom was truly a miracle from God! The judge sent for the documents of his case, and to everyone’s astonishment nowhere on the papers could they find where it said he had to spend 19 years in prison! The judge couldn’t believe it, and all he was left to do was tell Carlos, “Consider this a new start for you—another opportunity for you in life.”

WOW! That part of the story gave me goose bumps. He left the courtroom walking home barely understanding what had taken place, and on his walk he heard a voice saying, "I am your friend. I am your only friend!" WOW!

Carlos attended the meeting that night and shared his testimony with the entire church. What a powerful testimony!

He is now preparing to take the next step in his life towards Christianity, preparing for his Baptism. I pray that we can see him get baptized this Saturday in Bonao, in the baptism that they will be hosting for all the churches together.

This mission trip has been an experience that will follow me the rest of my life. It has been such a humbling experience. The Holy Spirit has been working in each one of us, the church members, and the visitors. We believe that with God we can achieve anything; we can move mountains! I pray that more people will take advantage of this great opportunity we have had to share the Good News and plant seeds. If we all did a little bit of God’s work together, imagine how fast we could spread the Word and see Jesus’ 2nd coming!

God calls us as Christians to be disciples, baptizing people in all nations in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
