Campaign Site Narrative from Ilauran, Romblon in Philippines E. The speaker assigned to this site was Joon-Min Shin.

This was going to be my second trip to the Philippines so I was quite excited about this visit. When I heard that we would be preaching on the island of Romblon, I was a little nervous because I had never heard of it. Then I learned that our group would have to take a boat from Manila to get to Romblon.

When I heard this, I started to pray. I realized that the trip might not be so easy. When we arrived in Romblon, however, I was amazed! It was fascinating! I thought, “if there is a paradise in this world, this is it.” Romblon was peaceful, beautiful, and felt cozy. There were no traffic jams, no crime, and the people were not selfish or greedy.

On Friday night, I began my presentations at my site, Ilauran. It was not easy, but with the help from my interpreter, the lay leaders, and the elders of the church, we made it through that first night. My site was actually the house of the Barangay Captain. I was proud to hear that he was an Adventist.

On the last Sabbath, we held a baptismal ceremony. Among all of the sites in Romblon, there were 82 baptisms, eight of which came from my church. The baptism really touched my heart. Over those fifteen days, I had a great experience and really learned to love the Ilauran people. I will never forget them. Thanks be to God that I could meet them. This ShareHim project will remain in my heart until Jesus comes again.
