Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Although I took some time to send you my report, it is with great pleasure I'm doing it. It was a great privilege for me to participate in the mission at the project in Cape Vert—a thrilling experience I'll never forget.

Having the chance to take the gospel is by itself a joy, but, in my case, this had a special meaning, because I was born in those islands, and my parents were teachers in the mission field. We left when I was five years old, and I never had the chance to go back again since then.

I really want to thank our Lord Jesus for using ShareHim to bestow this blessing. The local conference was also very friendly and supportive, as well as the local churches, who seem to never get tired but were always enthusiastic.

I was set to be at the church of "Ponta d'Água," in the edge of the city of Praia. The church told me they were praying a lot for the chance of receiving one of the preachers of the team there, and I was an answer to their prayers. Most of the church officials were very young (between the teens and the twenties) but very active and spiritual. Many times, after the preaching, they would go to the hills to spend time praying.

We had a good amount of visitors every day but especially when the power in the city would go down (which would happen every other day) because, as the city had no light, and the people had no way to perform their activities at home, they would came out to the streets, and then the church was the only place around with a generator, so people would come and listen to the message, since that was the best way to wait for the power.

I could notice that the mission field is struggling a lot with problems relating to alcohol and illicit sexual relationships; the population is very young, and easily tempted, but also very receptive to the message. I could share many experiences about the people we had the chance to help, but I'm going to emphasize a special one about a lady who started attending since the second week.

This lady came to me one night telling me her story about how she was feeling very troubled because she had already given all her money to an evangelical Pentecostal church, and they were still saying she had to offer more if she wanted to be blessed. She took her husband's money also, and he was now very upset. As a result he took away all of the furniture they had, and said he would only bring it back when she could get his money back.

Then she said she asked the pastor of that church to help her and give her the money back, but not only did he say he wouldn't, as he also replied, he wanted to warn her that if she would stop attending to church, the devil would start chasing her, and she started to panic. She would go home and feel a heavy spiritual pressure, like if some force was trying to make her go out, and then she would feel like going back to her church.

She decided then to pray and open her Bible to ask the Lord for help, and all texts she would find were about the law. John 14: 15 "If you love me, keep my commandments." Revelation: "…the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." She was wondering why, but then she remembered she heard many times the pastor and other people saying the Adventists where fanatics and legalist; maybe the Lord wanted her to find out something about the law. So she decided to visit the Adventist church right when we were having the campaign, and there she was telling me the story on the very first day.

I told her the Enemy would not be concerned on chasing those who don't want to go to church, but exactly the opposite. So what she was told was only an argument to get her money. I also told her that salvation was free because Jesus paid the price and invited her to come and find peace in Him at no charge. Then I prayed with her. She not only came back the very next day, but also every single day until the end of the series and would respond to all the appeals for baptism.

She was anxious to start getting Bible studies and accepted the biblical message of the Advent. I had the privilege to see her baptism in one of the greatest spiritual events I've ever been to. The last Sabbath of the campaign, all the nine preachers and the churches got together and I had the privilege to be elected as the speaker for the ceremony, and witness sixty-eight souls accepting Jesus as their savior, including her. She was very happy and said the pressure she was feeling was all gone, and she was rejoicing in her new life with Jesus.

As the evangelistic series ended, I felt impressed by the Lord, and with the permission of the local conference, I stayed for one more week on my own, preaching at several churches and solidifying the message. Many attended and she came every single night.

At the last night, the Lord was very graceful to me and I had the chance to preach at the church were my parents used to attend when I was a child. It was very emotional for me, because my mom has already passed away, but she had always wanted me to be a preacher, and there I was fulfilling her prayers.

Cape Vert was no doubt one of the best spiritual experiences of my life. I already presented a report in my church and I'm getting ready to preach the same messages and subjects by next month in another one. I praise the Lord and thank ShareHim for this wonderful opportunity.
