Youth Lead Out for Christ
December 1 2011 #519by Janet Aerni
Campaign Site Narrative. The speaker assigned to this site was Candace Cortes.
Youth lead out for Christ in the Tonasket Seventh-day Adventist ShareHim meetings that began March 18, 2011. Candace Cortez, 17, is a member of the Tonasket Church attending Upper Columbia Academy while Katie Mayfield, 14, is home-schooled in Newport, Washington. These two young ladies spent their spring vacation preparing for the evening meetings and also presented a worship talk at Peaceful Valley Christian School. In a church where most of the members are close to retirement age or older, their energy and enthusiasm were enviable.
The first evenings total of 29, with all three students from PVSC in attendance, was exceptional. One of the Hispanic attendees interpreted so other could understand the Biblical truths as they were presented. At the end of a potluck, before the second Sabbath evening’s presentation, we were informed the computer and projector weren’t communicating and immediately bowed our heads in prayer. When someone went over to check out the systems, they said that our prayer had been answered and the information was already on the screen.
As the meetings drew to a close, three persons expressed an interest in learning more about the Seventh-day Adventist message. I would like to say “Thank You” to all the members of the UCC Lay Advisory committee for their prayers on our behalf.
