Sabiti Nunge!
(Happy Sabbath!)
Well, we finally got home last night at 11:30pm, 71 hours after first loading up our stuff in Fort Portal, Uganda, Africa. Three days, two taxi’s, three airplanes, and several layovers later, we are experiencing the “good life” again (soft bed, clean food, and the best toilet paper in the world)! God is good to us here in America! Mukama asimwe! (Praise the Lord)
Last Friday I wrote and asked for your prayers as we were anticipating a baptism on Sabbath. God blessed us with 65 baptisms at our meeting site, 185 baptisms at the meetings in our local region, and 2200 baptisms across the country at about 58 different meeting sites! There was truly a great harvest. We simply did our part and told the salvation story. The Holy Spirit then convicted and converted hearts! We stand in awe! The local churches there are amazed how God miraculously worked in the lives of the local village people.
Have you ever been thirsty? I mean really thirsty? Then you know how refreshing cool water can be. This is how the gospel is received by persons longing to know a better way; longing for a better life with hope for tomorrow. Proverbs 25:25 says “As cold waters to a thirst soul, so is good news from a far country.” What a joy is ours when we can share the water of life with others!
God can and will work through you to reach others for Him. Others have returned from similar evangelistic work and described how even though they were simple lay people, they could feel the power of God working through them to reach others.
A fourteen year old boy held meetings at a nearby town in Uganda. Over 120 people were baptized at his site! What is amazing is that God is eager to work through us. It is not only our responsibility, it is our privilege!
Matthew 28:19,20 is our gospel commission: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and , lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. This is His bidding. And, as we have experienced, this is also His enabling. If you are feeling the conviction that you can be sharing the gospel, I urge you to step out in faith and do it. Even if it is in your own home, neighborhood, or town, step out and do it! God has asked you to, and he promises to be with you as you do it. I have experienced His power as I shared Him with hundreds in Africa recently. He is eager to work similarly through you to touch those within your reach!
Mukama abahe omugisu! (may God bless you)
